Default Fantasy Empires Battles are too fast

Does anyone know how to slow the battles down in the game? I dont recall the battles playing out so crazy fast before. I used to be able to manage a battle. Now it just happens in seconds. Im using DosBox in Windows Vista, and the rest of the game outside of the battle sequences are just fine. They run normal. Thanks.

There is a readme file included with dos box that explains all it's features.
Ctrl-F11 and Ctrl-F12 control emulation speed.
