Has anyone ever tried to run Win 3.1 in DOSBox? Does it work?

DOSbox is made to work on NT Windows platforms. This mean Windows 2k and up (if I'm not mistaken). It won't work for older platforms.
If you have Win 3.1, you don't need DOSBox anyways. You need DOS to boot Windows 3.1, thus you already have more than anybody else running Windows might need. |

He means if Win 3.11 runs INSIDE of DosBOX.
According to the dosbox site it does. Check http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/comp_list.ph...10&letter=W and you can see that 3.1 and 3.11 should run in 0.65. There's even mention of Windows95 being runnable in DosBOX |

I just can't understand why someone would want to run 3.1 in DOSBox. It's probably way more easier to simply install DOS on another partition and install 3.1 over it. :P

The first tutorial about DOSBox I saw (through frontend Boxer) talks about how to run Win3 on DOSBox --I won't link it since it's in Spanish. But doing that is evil, nay sick. :bleh:

Thanks Reup.
I have a number of Win3.1 games. A few will run in dos and others are looking for the Win 3.1 extensions. Awesome that I can run them in DOSBox. I didn't want to try it without asking if anyone else had. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Eagle of Fire @ Feb 28 2007, 02:38 AM) </div> Quote:
True. Matter of convenience really. I have a DOS machine with Win 3.1 on it but I don't let my kids touch it.

I am running windows 3.11 inside Dosbox version 0.65.
For the video card driver I use a driver for the s3 at a resolution of 800x600 and 256 colors for sound I use the creative sound blaster 16 driver. As far as I know networking doesn't work, but you don't need it. |
