for the blackthorne, run black.exe, not just crack.com. actually, run setup.exe first and set soundblaster as your soundcard (but i like adlib more for music)

and for the elf, hit right shift

Correcction; that was a part of problem. When I finish setup it says type bthorne to enter the game but when i type it it says illegal command. I tried typing the name of exe file ,which is black.exe, but i would get stuck again with just some credits and the game wouldnt move on.
I started elf with dos box and it worked fine

well, first of all, check whether your copy isnt damaged and that there are 4 files:
Quote:
CRACK.COM; 776 bytes
BLACK.EXE; 91 536 bytes
SETUP.EXE; 34 864 bytes
DATA.DAT; 1 652 124 bytes[/b]
then type in following commands:
mount c: c:\games\black
c:
setup.exe; here select soundblaster pro for sound, adlib for music and save
black.exe

and make sure your cycles are at least about 10 000 (press ctrl+f12 to increase cycles, ctrl+f10 to decrease them)

It was about cycles. They were on 3000 .When I increased the game started.
Thank you so much for your help and patience.

I´ve got problem with Blackthorne as well: I dont play it under dosbox, I´ve got old 486 (with Diamond sound chip, DOS) and Pentium 333 (with AWE 64,Win98). I played BT years ago on same 486 but with ESS soundcard, it worked well. Now I´ve got this problem - when I play it withound music and sound, game works. When I play it with sound or music, game is slow, a lot, when I play it with music and sound it´s unplayable. What am I doing wrong? Or it´s soundcard problem? Please help

all i can advice you is to try. try setting different sound cards. or sometimes happens that sound wont even work normaly with no slow down if you want to play in windows 98, just adlib midi music.

but you can also try booting in DOS (one if default options in WIN98) and run the program there. im sure it will work both with sound and music =)
