Thumbs down

Hi folks,

I have recently setup a Virtual Machine running DOS 6.22 with Mouse, CD-ROM, and Sound Drivers. Everything working great, have played a number of games on this little beast, but since I have downloaded BlackThorne I have not been able to get this game to run. For some reason everytime I run the setup.exe file, I keep getting an error message saying that the setup file needs to be run from the same directory as data.dat.

Anyone got any ideas, as I am really desperate to get this game running.

Thanks

Hm, I'd do what I'm told to in that case.
Just look up data.dat and see whether it is there or not.

Yep there is a directory in the root of C:\ called BLACK which contains all the files extracted from the BlackThorne Zip file (this includes the data.dat file). Also I have downloaded this file again.

Ok, did some fiddling about and found that for some reason if you move the black thorne file into a folder on the root of c:\ it knows where the data.dat file is. Ran through the setup, went to run the game and I now just get a black screen, and nothing else. :wallbash:

I can't help you with the black screen since I don't use DOSBox, but I want to thank you anyway for the data.dat error solving (I had experienced that problem also). You're my hero!

I don't use DOSBox either, I have just setup a virtual machine running DOS 6.22.

How have you got it working??

Virtual machines can have compatibility problems too. Which one did you try? Microsoft Virtual PC? Maybe try a different one?
