Space strategy turn based Windows game from 90s?
Hi, I'm hoping to get some help identifying a freeware/shareware windows game from the 90s.
It was a turn based game where you started on a single star system and could build ships using resources generated per turn by your conquered systems. Each star system had shields represented by rings around the star, and you could also purchase shields. The aim of the game was to conquer all your enemy's star systems. You did this by crashing your warships into their stars and depleting all the shields. There were also support ships for radar, scouts, mines and drone ships that could only attack other ships. The graphics were 2D and it was in a windowed interface with a sidebar for building ships with different levels of engines/offensive power etc. I played mainly against the AI and I'm not sure if there was a multiplayer option. Maybe you can find it by browsing games in the 4x genre at MobyGames.
