Not to be nitpicky, but the review states that the game is based on the fictional town of Lytton. Actually this game is based on the city of Los Angeles with locations that exist in real life.

It's been a while since I played this, did anyone manage to pick up on the killer's actual motive? Was there any reason to Hick's murder, or was he randomly pricking people in the movie theatre, then torturing and killing them because he was simply deranged?

Help!

I am stuck right from beginning, I can not leave, he tells me all the time I did not finished why I came in there.

What more should I do?
Police Quest 4 Walkthrough

HINTS FOR POLICE QUEST 4

Police Quest 4: Open Season

1 ... The Murder Scene

Problem:
What do I do at the murder scene in the alley?

Hint:
Talk to everyone at the murder scene. Click the eye icon
on the slain police
officer's body. In the close-up view, click your notebook
on the body and the
cigarette lying on the ground. Exit the close-up view of
the body and click
your notebook on the graffiti on the wall of the
convenience store. Use your
car keys to unlock your car's trunk. Pick up the homicide
kit. Click the eye
icon on the body of Bob Hickman. Click the chalk from the
homicide kit on the
cigarette and the body. Exit the close-up view. Open the
dumpster and click
your notebook on the body inside. Talk to Nobles about the body.

Problem:
I've marked and notated all the evidence, why is everyone just standing around?

Hint:
In the close-up view of the slain officer, make sure
you have clicked the
notebook and the chalk on the body and the cigarette.
Also click the notebook
on the graffiti on the wall and the body in the dumpster.
After you have marked
and notated everything, talk to Julie Chester until
she photographs and
collects all the evidence.

2 ... Monday

Problem:
What should I do in the office in the morning?

Hint:
Talk to Hal Bottoms. Look at your desk. Click the hand icon
on the memo in your
in basket. Open the left hand drawer and remove the
photograph. Open the right
hand drawer and pick up a 3.14 Follow Up form. In your
inventory, click your
notebook on the 3.14 Form. Still in the inventory, click
the eye icon on the
photograph. Remember the password written on the
photograph. Give the 3.14 Form
and the crime scene report to Hal. Click the hand icon on
the computer in the
back of the office. The ID number is the same as your
badge number, 612. The
password is 'gunner'. Select 'Gang Information' and then
'Rude Boys Get Bail'
from the computer screen. When you are finished reading
about the gang, click
on CANCEL and then LOGOUT to exit the computer. Leave the
office and take the
elevator to the first floor.

Problem:
How do I get past the pushy reporter in front of Parker Center?

Hint:
There is no graceful way out of this situation. After you have heard enough,
click the hand icon on the reporter.

Problem:
What should I do at the L.A. County Morgue?

Hint:
Show Sherry your badge. Talk to Russ, the Coroner's
assistant. Talk to Sam
Nobles, the Coroner. Click your notebook on Bob
Hickman's body. Before you
leave, take the personal belongings of Bob Hickman and
Bobby Washington from
the counter in the room where you talked to Russ. Return
the personal items to
the grieving families.

Problem:
What should I do at Bob Hickman's house?

Hint:
Knock on the door. Talk to Valerie. Inside, give
Katherine Bob Hickman's
personal belongings. If you talk to Katherine about
Bob's drug and alcohol
problem, she will become upset. When she leaves the room,
talk to Valerie again
until she mentions the closet. Open the closet door and
take the bottle of
pills from the denim jacket.

Problem:
I need to brush up at the L.A. Police Academy target range.

Hint:
Take the buff colored 13.5.1 form from the counter at the L.A. Police Academy
Target Range. Give the form to Bert. Take the wallet from
inventory and click
it on Bert. Pick up the box of ammo that Bert places on
the counter. Pick up
the head gear. Exit this screen to the right. In the
firing range screen, walk
forward. Take the head gear from inventory and click it
on John Carey. When
your gun is set to low ready, wait for a target to appear,
then quickly aim and
fire. When it is time to reload, open your inventory and

gun. When you are finished, drop the head gear off at the front counter.

Problem:
What should I do in South Central L.A.?

Hint:
From the scene of the previous night's murder, exit the
screen to the left. Go
inside the store and take an apple from the counter and
some glue from the
display rack on the right. Click your wallet on the
proprietor to pay. Outside,
walk 2 screens to the left. There are two kids standing
in front of a burned
out building. Show your badge to the kid who is standing
up. Talk to him until
he repeats himself. Click the hand icon on the door of the

night's murder. Exit this

Question her. Give her
the apple you bought at the convenience store. Leave this
screen to the right.
Show Mrs. Washington your badge. Give her Bobby's
personal possessions.
Question her.

Problem:
The guard won't let me back into Parker Center!

Hint:
Take the Parker Center ID from inventory and click it on John Carey.

Problem:
I'm back at Parker Center, now what?
Hint:
Take the elevator to the basement level by pressing the 'B'
button. Walk to the
end of the hall and give Julie Chester the glue from the
Lucky Mart store and
the pills from Bob Hickman's closet. Take the elevator
to the fourth floor.
Walk to the end of the hall and talk to Teddy. Give him
the bullets from the
burned out building. Tell him they are for 'Shelf
Storage'. Take the elevator
to the third floor. Return to your office. When the phone
rings, answer it by
clicking the hand icon first on your desk and then on
the phone. Exit your
office and go to the first floor. Save your game!

Hint:
When trouble starts, crouch down beside your car by
clicking the walk icon next
to the rear door. Click the Kevlar vest that Katherine
Hickman gave you on John
Carey. Click the walk icon near the trunk of the car
twice. Take the car keys
from inventory and click them on the trunk. When the trunk
is open, click the
keys on the shotgun. Click the hand icon on the shotgun to
pick it up. Exit the
view of the trunk.

Problem:
How do I shoot the bad guys?

Hint:
Once you have taken the shotgun from the car's trunk,
open your inventory and
select the shotgun. Click it on the burned out building.
Now you can aim the
shotgun and click to fire. If you use all the shells, you
have one chance to
reload. You can reload by opening your inventory and
clicking the shells on the
shotgun. If you run out of shells, you can still load and use your Baretta.

Thumbs down

I have some serious technical issues in PQ4. I can't get music nor sounds.
If I select any sound device in "install", when launch the game I get an error of audio.cpp:xxxx:xxx or something like that
I can only play with no sound at all.
The musics are defective too. The game simply crashes after a while, when music is enabled. DosBOX says something about fatal error in da driver screen(not the playing screen, the other).

HEEEEEEEELP! :help: :help:
