Instant BBQ:

When an opponent is using a force-shield (the thin pink/magenta one), switch to Napalm or Hot Napalm, crank your power up to the max, then engage Verical Guidance and disengage contact triggers (important)... Aim over the opponent, then shoot. When it asks to choose your target, click the center of the opponent's tank. Your Napalm charge will penetrate right through the shield of your opponent and fill his shield up with some nice hot napalm death. This might work on regular shields and mag deflectors too, but doesn't work on heavy shields or heavy force shields.

This is a very effective tactic, and always works if done as described.

Regards.

psyc, can you email the full version to me? ( i see no harm in emailing a game that is so old and purchasing it is impossible)

Jake is right...I played this game in college and I graduated in 1994, so I would say 91 or 92 maybe.

I don't understand why you all are having trouble running these games. I just extract the ZIP file and make a shortcut to the executable. I keep all the shortcuts in another folder (Abandonware). All these old games work fine on my computer (AMD Sempron 3500 2GHz, Win XP).

The only game I can't get to work is Duke Nukem 3D. It is designed for use with a SoundBlaster or other card. YOu have to manuallly configure the sound settings and I can't figure out which settings to select for my onboard Compaq sound.

But getting back to Scorch, it rules.

Back in uni, we failed to get our work done every time one of our group brought in his laptop for us to write our reports on.

Why? Well, Scorched Earth was on it...

Read the interview (link in previous post).
It says: version 1.1 was 1991, 1.2 - 1992 and this version 1.5 - 1995.

I don't like to think of how many hours I spent playing the Amiga version of this!

The first PC game I played (on friend's 386). And one of the best, if not the best (8 people + 1 PC + "scorch" == so much fun). Worms are good, but this is better (economic aspect is great).

as an owner of the official Totally Scorched CD , I can say that this is just the demo version... no matter if it says Registered version, it is not...

Thumbs down

For all the ones who want the full version I must tell you that it is exectly the same as the shareware version, since you can still get the 7th tank that shoots three shells at once.
It's a bug in the game and it is quite easy to discover. Since the computer can still use the 7th tank in the shareware you can give a computer controled player that tank. If you change it to player controled than you will then be able to use the 7th tank. Hope this post helps.
