If you are able to, try the game under Windows 98 / 98 Second Edition, should have no problems there, but if you want to hear sound there, you need a soundcard from Creative (Creative Live! 5.1 is good) that includes drivers for Windows 98 only to emulate old Soundblaster standards.

Do you run S2G under Windows 98 on desktop / from Explorer or from Dos-shell? Most games won't run if the are started on desktop / explorer, but do that under Dos-shell.

DOS cannot handle the NTSD partition that XP uses. It still needs the FAT32 of yesteryear. There are ways to create two partitions on your HD but you will need to fuigure out how yourself or get someone else to help you with it becasue I don't know how to do that.
