Red face

I just recently got my computer upgraded and had to reinstall alot of programs but firefox is the only program that can access the internet properly! Internet Explorer and the windows messenger that come with XP worked fine but even the newer version of messenger won't sign in. It says something about the default gateway. My old computer had XP Pro without service pack 2, my new one has service pack 2. Same connection and modem. Anybody know anything or somewhere to go for help. Thanks in advance.

Either you need to allow those programs to bypass the windows firewall which was added in SP2, or you've somehow ended up telling the PC to use a gateway which it doesn't need to - I'd say the first one was more likely

EDIT: Incidentally, wrong forum.
