Is there are a song, songs -
that have the effect of bringing tears to your eyes,
or otherwise simply manages to touch you emotionally,
deeply so -

whether of it is the songs own beauty,
or simply a memory that that song awakens in your mind?

That would be a couple of Simon and Garfunkel songs. Some are so beautifull...

And there's one song, which isn't all that good in itself, but which reminds me of a girl I knew. That can be pretty powerfull.

Pearl Jam's Black.
Nightwish's Angels Fall First

Oh, and almost forgot.. Even though it's not a real song, it's a spoken poem with a piano melody under it: AFI's [Untitled]

Too many. "Rocket Man" by Elton John and "Might as well be on Mars" by Alice Cooper almost always get me. Just like oh-so-many stuff by Genesis, Rush, The Police, Queen...

But it generally depends on my overall-mood really. And if there's mermories involved...

My special recomendation: Tom Waits.
Try "Tom Taubert's blues", "Somewhere" (yes, from "Westside Story") or "In the Neighbourhood" (just a few of many)... if THOSE don't move you, you're dead...

Actually "Memory" from the musical "Cats" by Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice(I guess) can be pretty touching. That, and "Epitaph" by King Crimson.

And pretty much every song by Fabrizio de Andr?.

"Days of Pearley Spencer" by Marc Almond (although I think it's a cover), "Sometimes" by James and most of all, "Wicked Game" by Chris Isaak (an instrumental version of which is on the Blue Velvet soundtrack).

Wasn't that song on the" Wild at Heart" soundtrack too???
I kinda like to play it on guitar... It's a depressing tune
