Well there's this band The Kinks, IMO they're much better and have a stronger sound then let's say Beatles and The Rolling Stones(which were starting out in the same era), their sound is much more advanced, and I'm not really sure why they weren't more famous...

The Kinks were pretty good, yea... they did get some limelight, but not as much as they deserved. The thing about the Beatles and Rolling Stones against them though is their sound, in my opinion, was a little too produced, or as you put it, "advanced", while the former two bands managed to capture the raw, psychedellic feelings on the times, as well as presenting some very, er, interesting lyrical aspects.

Since when Evanescence has any religious elements in their songs?
Inkubus Sukkubus mixes in some occult and pagan, but that doesn't change their good sound.

Some IS samples. Definitely worth checking are: Wytches (both versions), Vampyre Erotica, Pagan Born, Belladonna & Aconite, Away with the Faeries, Supernature. Try out the rest too, there are some others I have not listed and still are rather nice.

I thought this thread was to escape the metal that dominates the forum? :bleh:

My favourite "not for the masses" albums are The Big Eyeball in the Sky and Oysterhead.

Well they were a Christian band for quite awhile, and there are still some Christian tones in their music, if you listen to the lyrics carefully.

Not that I do, I really can't stand Evanescence, but some people around me are too "into it".

Well if Alexisonfire is Screamo then A Wilhelm Scream aren't screamo. I'll just call it melodic hardcore. I'm not the biggest fan of Alexisonfire, it can get a little tiresome to listen to, same as Thursday.
Thats how Wilhelm scream refer to themselves as.. melodic hardcore..

Seeing them in 2 days - I love guestlists

Why can't they come to Australia

I'd love to see them live.
They're with Lagwagon right?
That would really be something.

Sorry for banging in such a (interesting) topic to talk about Evanescence, but they aren't a Christian band.

I think they met each other on some religious camp or whatever, but the only thing they have from Christian rock is the church organ synthetizers and the occasional latin trends - that translated are more humanist quotes than religion supporting ones.

Anyway, back to topic, long time I don't see a Indi discussion, I'm not even into it anymore.

ps: Are Pre)Thing considered "not for the masses"?

It's not really an indy discussion, but if you have a band you'd like to spread about and tell people who otherwise would be ignorant to them, go for it. ...and Pre)Thing would count, yes, I haven't heard much from them myself even.
