:wallbash: I don't understand this sh1t. The PC doesn't recognise it and it can't be recharged (I remmember that it was very very low on power) and when I tried to turn it on - it didn't. I tried restarting and restoring it's memory (restoring was to no avail, cause it wasn't recognised). I reinstalled iTunes and the iPod software, even restarted the damned PC, but nothing happened.

The one thing I'm frightened is that it blinking every 10 seconds. I would imagine it fully out of power to be dead, but it's like trying to turn itself on, on it's own. What the hell? I do know that it's power is absolutely depleted (it was in reserves) and why - WHY, doesn't the PC or itunes recognise it when I connect it to my PC???
If it's low on power I think the best way to recharge the iPod's battery is to connect it to the PC usb port and let it chrge, but with it not getting recognised and not receiving any power - HOW will I ever be able to turn it on??? I got no "firewire" connection, just the usb ports on my PC.

Can anyone help me out? Why is it acting so strange, not getting recognised and not getting charged?
Any help is appreciated, btw - it's the newest thing around and it ain't been a month with me, so I'm sorry to send it to the scrap heap.

BTW: The iPod had never been fully out of power, so is there a way to recharge it and see if it still doesn't work?

Model is: MA146LL/A

EDIT: I've just read on the back of the case:

"Rechargable batteries have a limited number of chrge cycles and may eventually need to be replaced. Battery life and number of charge cycles vary by use and settings."

So WTF, it dies from being out of power???

Nope, it doesn't die from being out of power. I can however die if you recharge it like 3 times a day. I did that with my mini. It lasted for one year.

You may want to try resetting it, but I suppose you can't do that when it's not getting recognized by the pc......

I would recommend searching google but moreso searching the Itunes community. No doubt that blinking thing u mentioned isn't unique to you.

*Rules of thumb with computer problems, if its happening to you, its happening to someone else too

Can't you try charging it using the AC adapter?

My Dads the bexpert on batterys at my place. If it is the battery and you get a new one this is a good way to charge them. The new ones the first time you chargeit keep turning it on and off until it wont even blink for a second before charging. Do this for the first 4-5 charges. After that you dont need to. Some how the battery may forget it has some space for power in it if for the first 4-5 chrages you dont fully de charge and fre charge it. Anyway I thought I better mention it incase it is the battery and you get a new ipod or battery so that you can get a the longest amount ot time possible from one battery.

you know, batteries get charged even if its not recognised by operation system, having it plugged in usb (powered usb) is enough
i think its in something else than having it "charged out". sillmilar thing happened to my friend with his Xclef. he just had "reset" hole in it and it got fixed after resetting it.

Sorry, I had given up on the advice, well - today I went to the Apple HQ here in another city (3 people the whole crew). It seems my ipod hadn't been getting enough voltage or somer sh14t like that, but they plugged it into a firewire and it got it's conciousness back, so now I reset it and am recharging it's a55 off. Hopefully this won't happen anytime soon. I will recharge it when it's low on power anyway, so no worries about driving to another city 100km away and back anyway.
