I couldn't find any references to Nethack before 1996, and their site lists 1999 as the year when the first public release happened. it is mighty wierd that the first version seems to have the number 3.2.2 but i attributed that to a long beta test...

No no no, you've misread it! Their website lists 1999 as the fist public release of www.nethack.org, basically 1999 was when the website went public.

The website lists 1996 as the release of version 3.2.2, but there were versions out long before that, just not listed on the site. There WAS a version 1 at one point, believe it or not :bleh:

I think it might even have had an early version out in 1986, I've heard from a few people who claim to have played it as early as 1986.

I'm sorry? I live in portugal and I've seen Diablo and Diablo 2 and even the expansion in an ELECTRONICS STORE, in it's gaming department. I've seen the game there for the last three years, basically since it opened, and i'm not exagerating.

They are no longer sold in my local gamestores. I guess I can still find it in bigger gamestores in bigger cities, I'm just to lazy to drive out of town to check.

Anyway, I am still waiting for Reup's opinion on Lost Legends.
