help me sort out a misunderstanding
So I just had finished writing a cool program involving hundreds of gigabytes of data, and when I realized that I'm finally done with it, I immediately called my friend to tell him about it. I said "I have to show you something totally cool on the computer" and we were both happy. Last week everything looked so good, but then...
Today he called me if I would come over to his house (which is 20 miles away) and show him what I did program on the computer. Of course I said, no man it's on my computer! (he mustn't have understood that it involves like 800gb of data) and I noticed the disappointment in his voice. I'd really like to carry all that hardware over to his house but well that would end up in a distastrous ammount of work since he only has a Laptop and my 3 harddrives with all the data have 3.5" , so I told him to come over to my house. And now I feel like a fool. So, what can I do? I still wanna show him the program on my PC but I can't without re-arranging my promise to include "... as soon as you come to my house" Did I break my word now?

You didn't break your promise. As you stated yourself, there is no other way to demonstrate the program.

Like others, I don't see what the problem is. Just tell the guy you can't send him the code because it's too huge, so he'll have to come to your place to see it. Surely he won't be offended by that.

You recommended it, I did it, and now he feels like an idiot.
Got the same problem now, just one league higher. I'd better smash the molecules of my body with an atom-annihilator right now!!!!! The problem is surely based somewhere in the telephone... I can only wonder that certain phrases like "look here" and "what is that?" and "i wanna show you something" are normally acceptable in a conversation, but when spoken on telephone they can cause disaster. Does anyone recommend that I smash my phone with a hammer in order to prevent such future problems? No worries, I already did it!! FUCK

I agree with the others, besides you never said anything about coming to his place, I don't see why he should readily assume that you meant to do that. He has no reason to be disappointed and you no reason to feel ashamed, or weird about it.
It seems to me that it's just being nicer than necessary. To late here.

You're making a mountain out of a molehill, and I don't get why you were so worried about accommodating him.
On answering your question, I think the ideal solution would be to share your desktop: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desktop_sharing

Meh, you didn't explain that the program required that much data to run, so it's not really either side's fault. You forgot to mention an important detail, he jumped to conclusions. It happens. Now stop making drama and either arrange for some sort of remote desktop solution (VNC, maybe?) between your PCs or just discuss when he can visit you to see the demonstration.
