Default Running DOSBox on a Mac (King's Quest games)

I downloaded King's Quest 1, but I am having trouble getting it to work.* I have DosBox version 0.61 for Mac OS X 10.3.4, with the Radnor frontend.* The files I downloaded come with two executeable .COM files, CDC.COM and KQ1.COM.* I assume that I am to run the KQ1.COM file.* When I do, the dos shell throws up a dialogue that says "Cracked Version Press Escape".* When I press the Escape key, I get another dialogue that says "Can't find picdir.* Press ENTER to try again.* Press ESC to exit."* Pressing ENTER just repeats the message.* Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Yes, I suppose it should go in the kingquest directory, but I got an error when I tried to put it there. I thought this was the next best place. I apologize if it seems out of place.

firstly, Mac, DoS and windows are 3 different systems so don't use mac logic wuith windoiws or Dos logic with Mac.

here is an example of what to do:

C:\oldgames\dosbox - But Dosbox here
C:\oldgames\kq1 - put kq1 here

I've heard there is a DOSBox Frontend for the MacOS X port out there somewhere..
Check this http://DOSBox.sourceforge.net/wiki site which is the DOSBox Wiki Guide.
Especially this link http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.p...DOSBoxFrontends It lists some frontends that are existing right now and that I'm aware of.

@ RCR...

I believe Data meant for you to list the files in your directory. Like:

C:\KQ1

KQ1.com
readme.txt
Sierra.exe
Install.exe
.
.
.

And so on

Default problem fixed

Thanks everyone for the replies. I found that I was not getting the complete file set downloaded with the browser I was using (Safari). I switched to Netscape and was able to download it all. It's great to see that members of this forum are so willing to help.

Thanks again.

Just as I expected.

Support for the mac for realmode games is quite stable in dosbox.
