Gee, thank you very much, Frodo !! That's it !!! :brain: That's the game I used to play... in B&W. Honestly, I didn't know there was a Win version for it... shame on me.

Can't help you with this game. But a similar, though obviously more advanced game I would recommend is Star Trek - Birth Of The Federation. I'd call it Civilization in space. And it definitely works under Windows XP.

The name of the game is badly chosen, as you can play Federation, Klingon, Ferengi, Romulan or Cardassian. You start with a home system, the surrounding star systems will only have a question mark, and the rest of the map is hidden. You need to explore the galaxy, terraform and colonize planets, micro-manage your systems, research better technology, deal with the other major races and a large variety of minor races (Vulcans, Bajorans, Bolians, Acamarians, ...) through diplomacy, combat and trade, and use your intelligence (internal security, espionage and sabotage) against the other majors.

The major powers have different themes, different music and different strategies. The Klingons conquer the universe through battle, the Federation use mainly diplomacy to befriend the minors and eventually have them join as members, the Ferengi make lots of money to buy everything they want and bribe the minors, the Cardassian mainly use espionage and sabotage, and the Romulans balance all these methods of conquest.

For such an old game, there is still a large following of die hard fans, as is proven by the development of several fan made sequels.

Errr... sorry guys but I got 2 problems.

1. I have found Spaceward Ho! v. 2.0 for Windows, it seems to be for Win 3.x but the first time i hit "End Turn" it gives me a General Protection Fault error and crashes. I suppose I couldn't make it run in compatibility with Win 3.x, could I ?!

2. I have found the 1993 version for DOS, it runs well under DOSBox but at a certain moment I have to look in the game's manual for a certain word... DOES ANYONE KNOW how can I bypass this copy protection code issue?! :wallbash:

I hope I'm not disturbing anyone with the content of my post here...

BY THE WAY, are the DOS and 2.0 versions protected or not ?

Sweet, anyone able to upload this game then? I have a 5.25" floppy here, but no drive and NO idea where my manual got off to.
I'd bet this game would run great in DosBox, as the disk I have is MS-DOS.

Wonder if I could scrounge up a drive and use an external IDE drive bay...hrmmm

I have Spaceward Ho! 2.0 along with the copy protection codes. I've recently set it up to run in my Win3xO collection. For those familiar with eXoDOS, it is the same concept - but focused on collecting all possible Windows 3.x games.

I'd be happy to upload it here before my collection releases however.
