It is difficult but it was one of the games that came with my brand new Voodoo 2 12MBs back at the day, and it was very fun. :-)

OK, next should not be difficult.

It is a great game, lots and lots of fun. It was made for Windows. You had to manage to get out of the planet first before it was too late.

It is not earth 2150 nor Descent 2. Good choices though. Because my previous game was a tough one (didn't intend to...) I will give an extra big clue. The game was one of the first (the first IMO but you never know) to support two "types" of cpu.

I think he may be refering to a game that worked on both Intel and AMD, or maybe PC and Mac... The clue is vague to me, but that's probably because I don't know what the game is at all.

Is the game maybe Unreal?

Unreal it is not.

Hmm, I will be a bit more specific about the "types". Two different "types" of the same manufacturer. The second type of cpu was recently released and was supposed to bring a huge difference to gaming. It didn't, but games that supported it did look a bit better I guess. The game, at least with the patches, don't remember without them, could run with glide, direct3d or software mode.

EDIT: When I say recently released I mean compared to the release of the game.

My guess about the processor would be pentium and pentium MMX, but as to the game I really don't know.

hm... you wouldn't happen to mean the GPUs? (the are processors, just not CPUs). In wich case you're probably wrong because the first different "type" of processor was floating point operations procesor (the times were simpler, and they simply called them "sub-processors". who knew? ) back in the 80s and I can bet a pair of clean socks some game out there used it.
