I've just registered here cuz I couldn't find the dutch version anymore >.<
So i'm hoping you guys know the answer. You know the windows XP autoexec.nt? well, dos games don't work on it. YES I know the autoexec.nt has been moved back in there with a autorun .bat script I made and it is Moved by WINDOWS XP itself btw. (It thinks there's a virus in it or something, so it deletes/moves it.). So back up a copy in C:\ somewhere. for the script, I reckon you guys smart enough to know how to make a .bat script, if not, bad luck :P. So Compatibility mode won't work. The autoexec.nt won't work, but anyone know where I can get an older version? (YES It does work I've had 3 different autoexec.nt and 1 WOULD work with dos games and 1 WOULDN't) EDIT: I've found a working one already http://www.oldmp.com/forms/download/xpservicepack2.htm for those that LOST their autoexec.nt forever and couldnt find a replacement (yes eventually it will dissapear, over 2000 people I have seen with this problem) Meh i'll put instructions here anyway Press START -> RUN = CMD (= means fill in, in the menu that will appear) Now Type EDIT and you'll get a blue screen. Now just type this (depending on what folder you see) copy C:\place of your autoexec.nt backup\autoexec.nt C:\WINDOWS\system32\ OR C:\WINNT\system32 instead of Windows However some (probably most) people will get an ''access denied'' problem. but it's worth trying anyway. (For me it DOES work) File -> save as, and put it in your startup folder under the name bla200.bat (this doesn't really matter as long as it has .bat If it doesn't work, stick to copying every boot LOL. |
