I don't know if I caught this thread somewhere in the wrong time - but to get the AWESOME Amiga intro MOD for the game you don't need to go re-inventing the wheel!

You see, Exotica archive, archive's the game info, and especially the game music - which is effectively great.

So for Hero Quest you just have to go here:
http://www.exotica.org.uk/wiki/Hero_Quest

And download the .lha archive (LHA is just like your average ZIP, 7Z, or RAR). To extract the MODS you'll need an archiver that supports LHA - which 7ZIP conveniently (it's free) does.

Now you'll have your Hero_Quest folder with two MOD files, but how do you play them?

Well - you'll want to use a MOD player - and I really don't recommend plugins for the major players - use a good standalone such as Deliplayer (no longer supported but still works - check:
http://matthew-4gl.wikispaces.com/deliplayer

Or even better is downloading Xmplay from:
http://www.un4seen.com/

The Delix plugin ("...This plugin allows XMPlay to open and play various exotic audio files originating from the Amiga computer.") for Xmplay is useful for some less common MOD formats and you can grab it here (not necessarily needed for these MODS):
http://dhost.info/pieknyman/html/plugins.html

Hope to have been of help.

Oh and by the way the music was composed by Barry Leitch - who said "The in game music was a bitch to write as we only had 30k and they wanted as long as they could get...."

Or, you can get a copy of Inertia Player and run it in DOSBox.

Actually, the best mod player is modplug. When it comes to mod files, or are we talking about specific Amiga files ? since then deli player is a great player.

Awesome...I never thought I'd play Hero Quest again. I remember playing with my dad and brothers almost 20 years ago. Even though I was really too young to be of much help, it was so fun that I was hooked on RPGs (and especially dungeon crawlers) for the rest of my life. From there it was on to Wizardry, up through Baldur's Gate, and on to our current lack of good RPGs. Thanks to abandonia, I can still play decent games.

Default Walk through rock spell

Does anyone have any tips for using the Earth spell to walk through rock/walls? Whenever I use the spell, it tells me that I should be able to walk through any wall when I next move, yet next turn comes around (or even in the same turn, if I cast it before moving) and still I'm blocked.

That damn spirit blade will be stuck forever!
