The name Petroglyph studios probably won't ring a bell for many of you... but I'm pretty sure the names "Command and Conquer" and "red alert" do... not to mention other clbehindics like "dune 2" and "dune 2000" as well as the "eye of the beholder" series and the Kyrandia series.
This obscure studio, which rose from the ashes of what used to be westwood studios, had finally revealed what its "secret project" is. Now its not a real sequel to C&C (obviously) instead its a Star Wars RTS game. Usually when i'd hear another star wars game is in the making I'd shake my head in disgust. However looking at the background of the teammembers and their history in the RTS genre (which they in fact created with Dune 2) I think there is a chance petroglyph studios will be to Star Wars RTS, as Bioware was to Star Wars RPG. I for one am overjoyed with the fact that true masters are back at work (and that Frank Klepacki's music will finally be back) as should many of the fans of the old clbehindic RTS games like Dune 2 and C&C. here is the site of petroglyph studios: Petroglyph and you can read the article here

There are some really good Star Wars games out there. Jedi Knight 2, Battlefront, KotOR.
Has there been a Star Wars RTS before this, or this the first? |

I have played the demo of Jedi Knight 2 and liked it but I have not seen the full game on sale yet (at full price yes but not on discount). The two Dark Forces games are nice as well. But ever since the release of the new movies the games based on that have felt over produced just like the movies.
Not my cup of tea.

There is one game made on AOE engine...
I got it, installed it and played two-three missions... Looks like a cheap version of AOE in StarWars settings... |

The time where star wars games were pumped out like there was no tomorrow. The games where of a low quality. This ended when KOTOR was released. Now the star wars games are of a... better standard. Not saying they are must-haves but they are better than the games released before and after the release of Episode I
