OK, now this is strange. i did some more fooling arround and it seems that at as soon as you use more programmes the is more flickering. And on top of it all if i use Sophos Antivirus the monitor is shut off (i.e. it says no signal detected). Coul dit be that only the power supply is having difficulties?!?

sorry to poke at the obvious but did you ever try this card on a different monitor? if not try that.

Another underlining problem; it could have had a history of being overclocked which can screwed up the gpu over a long time of use, Overclocked cards have a usable lifetime of about 10 years until unusual glitches happen (ie random colored lines, flickering, all together dead card)

Also the monitor could have a faulty input cord.

Why would you use a GeForce 4 with a 22" monitor, I'm sorry to say but that's a really stupid decision. You need a more modern and powerful card for that.

Why does people want to resurect a 5 month old thread is more the kind of question I'm wondering ATM.

Not doing that prevent people from reading a thread from page one to the last, only to think "didn't I see this before in the past?" at the same time...
