Hi new to this site, i love old dos games, and THE very first game i got for my pc back in '95 was screamer. Anyway managed to get a copy of screamer 2 but unfortunelty cant get it to work. Even with DOS box wont see to do it. The problem seems to be it needs to run setup before it will start the game but the game just sits there saying please wait when it starts. I think if i had the config files that setup creates it would work. I tried what the dosbox help page suggested but that didnt work. Any advice appreciated.

You should be more precise.
Have you set up Dos Box in any way? Reading the DosBox Tutorial usually helps a lot. Report back if you still have questions.
When DosBox runs properly, you'll be able to set the game up properly! k:

Did you set the amount of RAM to maximum? That's a possible reason it could crash.

Did you increase the cycles?

How fast is your pc? If it's too slow and the cycles are very high, it can crash.

Have you tried to run the game without setting it up? So: Does it run at all?

1. RAM can be a problem. Try experimenting with different values.
2. Soundcard settings. The currently optimal soundcard emulation choice for DosBox is SBPRO2 (Sound Blaster Pro 2). SB1 (Sound Blaster) is known to cause crashes.
3. The sound setup might be another thing here. Has there been any sound configuration during the installation process?

the problem is setup has to run before the game will run for the first time. sometimes it gives an error message about not being able to find a COMM port, which could be a problem since i dont think pc's have these any more do they? its all usb now

Yeah tried that still dont work. thats relying on setup working under windows at least once to create the config. files, but since it wom run straight from windows or in dos box it doesnt work.
