Unhappy Installing Metaltech Earthsiege

Hi,

I have a problem installing Earthsiege. I own the original CD. Copied all the stuff into a folder and tried to run the install.bat in Dosbox 0.73. Also tried it directly from CD with the mounted drive. Same problem.

The installer says the usual stuff:
This programm will let you specify what type of hardware is installed in your machine. (I guess its acting like it already installed the game)
You must run it once before playing your Sierra game. You may want to run it again if you add new hardware to your system or if you are having problems with your first selections.

The next screen gives you 4 choices:
View documentation
Make bootdisk
Accept these choices and save configuration (what choices!!?)
Cancel installation

I chose the 3rd one, a text appears about the warranty registration. Press any key... Next screen says Exiting Install... press any key.

So thats it. Dosbox 0.56 (I think) displayed an error in the statuswindow:
DOS:IOCTL Call 1 unhandled
which seams to cause the skipping of the actual installation. Dont know how to work around that. I couldnt find the game on any abandon game site. If any of you want to try:
http://netload.in/dateikn5FtJwOab/Earthsiege.rar.htm

If any of you knows the developer(s) of Dosbox maybe you could pass it on.

Who can read has the advantage. I tried older versions of Dosbox in the hope that they will do it. They didnt but at least there is some kind of error message displayed.

The installer doesn't work that way. Use soundset.exe to configure the sound, then run the game with ES.exe .

Well there is no ES.exe only a ESCD.exe But with moving some files around the soundset worked and the escd.exe is running the game. Although the intro video isnt played.

The list is out of date. Have you even bothered to search the Requests forum?

I try to get a friend installing DOS on a virtual machine and make a proper install of the game and send it to me. Or maybe some nerd in here could do it. The game I linked can be installed in English, French, German. I could provide a scan of the manual but thats German only.

Mount a C drive to install to, then mount your CD-ROM drive as drive D using the -t cdrom switch. Then install using install.bat
