Looking for an abandonware site for disk copies!
Hello comrades, I am looking for an abandonware site that has a focus on collecting and archiving copies of the actual game disks, rather than the "pre-installed games" ala Abandonia!
Sorta silly question I guess but I'm a collector of copies of the original diskettes for the games, that's why I'm asking! So in other words I'm looking for for example a .RAR file that contains a copy of the install disk, rather than the game folder! Thanks for any helpful tips. //Regards longtime abandonia user, just now registered. |

To be honest, I don't recall ever hearing of such a site.

My bad guys, I expressed myself badly, I was wondering if anyone knew of such a site, because I don't.
As it is now I basically have to make the disk copies myself from my RL disks. Problem is some of the older games are in those far larger disk formats that don't fit into my floppy drive. |

I would not understand the point of such a site. A lot of very old games didn't even have an installation sequence more complicated than copying the files from A: to C: (in the right specified directory) and editing the config file accordinly, so... Some games you download from Abandonia are in fact a carbon copy of the floppy.

IIRC Home of the Underdogs had at least some of the presented games stored in such split floppies manner.
This would be my preferred way of archivization if not for the quirks of dosbox with multiple floppy images. Hey, it's good to still have "good" old floppy drive. Please note that some old games, unlike standardized Windows installation packages of today, had interesting custom installation programs. Remember, say, Command & Conquer? |

C&C was priceless, period.
I am yet to see a better installation sequence than the one which was bundled with C&C. This is not the kind of attention to detail we'd get today with "modern" games... |
