christ.... If people are only here or at any other site only so they can download free games then goodbye...
This is like the abuse I had when I opened a Dreamcast section - As I didnt have ISO's.. Jwh - that attitude is what's hurting this scene... |

What attitude?
I was expressing my taughts about, as previously stated, MY FAVORITE ABANDONWARE SITE. That's only because I love it and would like it to keep the #1 ranking. Is that bad? The only attitude check should be done by those who take my comments (ment only to improve the site quality) as personal attacks. |

I am still 100% agreeing with the oppinion of Jwh.
Anyone who say that his oppinion is simply crap is also telling the same to me. I simply don't feel like repeating what he said so well, it would be redundant. |

I agree with Omuletzu. We're not lying. I mean, I don't see what's wrong with putting up reviews for few REALLY good games. We provide the "buy" link, so we're basically just promoting the game for the producers.
We also say "Dedicated to old DOS-games", but not all of the games on the site are DOS, are they? (just an example). I can't find any lie in this. |

The buy links are there because after the game in question was put online it was revealed to be not abandoned. Rather then take the entire page off-line we replace the download button with a link to where-ever the person interrested in the game can buy the game.
We would rather provide those games with a buy link for free but we cannot. Still that should not prevent anyone from enjoying the game so we provide a buy link. Once the game is actually abanonded we can easily replace the buy link with a download button.

I like all of the games to be on site, regardless if they are available for download or not. Abandonia is helping to preserve old games, and these game will be available one day too.

put them in a seperate section so it would be known that you can't download them. that way people would not get confused between abandonware and non-abandonware.

that would people even make more confuse... They search for MI in adventures and they doesnt find any... they start wondering why and keep asking here on the forum!!...they will never look in 2 things for 1 game.. People are just too lazy for that (and that is no insult to anyone...just a fact of the people these days)

well, make a clear distinction between games without having to open them at least because then people won't open up the review just to find it isn't downloadable and moan on the forums about it, will they???

Our pay-off line still is ''dedicated to classic dos gaming'' and not ''download all our games for free!!'' , There are numerous dos-gaming sites which have reviews of games they don't have a download for. They made the review for love of the game and to encourage people to give it a try. I don't get pissed when I see the buy button but I do like to read the review and see what people have to say about it.
what we can do is add a sentence at the ''listing pages of the games'' adding the senctence: Available for: Download , or: Available for: Purchase. So people can see it before they click on teh review. How does that sound? |
