In order to narrow down your problem we need more information. Something like

What are your computer specs ?
Which windows version are you using ?
Which game version did you install ? Did you make a full install ? Are you using the CDs or an CD emulator ?
Did you also install TotSC ? Which game version are you playing ? Did you install the latest patch ? Did you install any inofficial mods ?
...
Sure, indeed:
1.computer specs
AMD Sempron Processor 2500+, 1,41 GHz
Total Physical Memory - 1.53 GB
128 MB Video card
2.windows version
XP Pro 5.1 2600 SP3
(I do have WinME and W7 also in same PC).
3.game version
TotSC 1.3.5521
4.full install
I had 3 choices for Install
-Minimum
-Complete
-Recommended (I used this one- All files and videos).
I see that all 3 CD were transferred.
5.CDs or an CD emulator?
I am using Daemon Lite emulator.
6.install TotSC?
Yes, I did.
7.install the latest patch ?
No. I have no idea and info.
8.install any unofficial mods ?
Dunno.

Again:
I enter the Area Map.
Left side - CandleKeep
Down - Beregost - blurred image
Up - Friendly Arm Inn

I press the available icon of the Inn and receive:
-Wrong CD.
Place CD 2 in device K:\

The only variant is Alt-F4.
Blue dead screen.

Recommended install does not install all files, which means it needs the CDs. Now Baldur's Gate is a fairly old game, and since you're using D-Tools, it probably determined another drive (the first drive letter with a DVD/CD, so probably where your physical optical drive is) as target. No matter what you mount and where, it'll look for it in the physical drive. Reinstall, do a Complete installation. I don't remember the instructions from the top of my head to copy over all TotSC data from the CD to your HD and what to change in the .ini so you don't need a CD, maybe someone remembers.

Edit: btw, if you also have BG2 + ToB, forget the original game, and get BGT or BGTutu, and play both games in the BG2 engine.

Somewhere in the game or configuration or folder you should be able to see which version you are running, I think the last version you can patch TotSC to is 1.3.5521 .

I agree with hungavy about reinstalling both BG and TotSC as full install. I remember the game only checking the the TotSC CD at the start and never loading from CD again when I did so. It should work with XP, but you can also try using it with ME, it might be more compatible with the older windows version, my BG2 required patching for running properly with XP. If you got an extremely good roll for your character (if you post stats and weapon proficiencies I'll tell you how good he is) you can export him and backup the .chr file or even the savegame from the game folder, else just create a new one.

I disagree with hungavy about getting BGT or BGTutu, if you are satisfied with graphics and movement speed there's no need to play a fanmade BG2 game with BG story instead of the original.

It's not a fanmade game, it just brings the BG1 game into the BG2 version of the infinity engine, with the enhancements they made to BG2, including higher resolution, stackable items and the whole shebang. You don't need to install any other mod if you don't feel like it, but being able to play through the whole game without stopping, and seemless import of your character is a good payoff. Not to mention new class kits, proper dual-wielding and so on. Oh, and a high-res worldmap, which is pretty sweet. Everything else is optional, and not needed to enjoy a vanilla game. Though I must say that SCS II provides an exceptional challenge, even for powergamers.

Talking Hurray!Noch ein mal! Bravo! The yoga is the bug!!

Yes, the bug is stupid yoga.

-What? Impossible.
Yoga is the AB wizard and bravest hero..
OK. Now seriously.

In my installation window were 3 choices:

1. Custom
2. Minimum
3. Recommended

I took N 3 and failed.
Re install.
So I carefully reread the Install instructions and followed the text: Use Custom and check all boxes.Done.
Result:
The victorious army of the brave successfully landed Friendly Arm inn. Hurray!!

...bout Tutu. Yes, I know that this system enhances the game but I will follow the advise of my Guru Kmonster.
We, Bulgarian, has a proverb :
-The very good is not so good.
Ha ha ha..You know what I mean.

..bout new character:
Name - Twillight in honor of our nice colleague twillight.
Race - Fighter/Mage - dear Kmonster, I want to be F/Ill, but I do not like to be Gnome, so pls forgive my choice. You remember that only you approve my very first and strange choice of my Fallout 2 character telling me - Go on yoga even with these perks..

Str 10 etc. Soon more details.
2 spells - Magic Missile and sry forget the second.
Weapon - Bastard saber
Armor - Splint mail

Q: May I take the potions, weapons and money of our companions Montaron and Xzar? Is it time to disband these ones now?
Q2: Is it possible to return again in Candlekeep or other locations principally?
Q3: Some time limits there?
Q4: How to do screenshots of the game?

Bravo ! Nothing can stop Yoga the great .

There's no need to take a gnome if you don't want to, it's most important that you like the character you're playing, fighter/mage is still powerful and the game is beatable with any class or party.

And I guess twillight will be dancing with joy that he doesn't have to be a crazy little gnome.

A: Do as you wish. I don't know how you like them. If you dismiss them you can take away their gear, but they are quite funny and entertaining to have around and can help in hard battles.

A2: You can revisit most areas in the game almost all the time. You won't be able to return to Candlekeep for a long time however.

A3: No time limit. You can rest for 1000 years now if you wish. If you want to keep Xzar and Montaron you should go to Nahkel with them some time, but you don't have to run now. Most party members want something from you, if it's done (like getting to Nashkel for Xzar and Monty) there's nothing urgent to do any more. There are only a few timed quests in the game and you're told when they start.

Talking

Last news from battle ground.

Do You know for the suicide wrangle between Jaheira and Khalid vs Xzar and Montaron?
The result: Last both heroes are out of my army!

Is this normal?

Q: May I change for example my leader with another party member?

Jaheira and Khalid fighting Xzar and Montaron happens to almost every player.
A few NPCs don't like each other and can start fighting while in your party, but I guess those will be the only ones in your game.

A: You can give the party lead to anyone in your party by putting his/her portrait to the top. It's recommended to take the most charismatic one for better quest rewards and cheaper shopping.

Q: How did you defeat the infamous bounty hunter trying to kill your character at the Friendly Arms Inn entrance ?

In BG1 yes, some partymembers hate each other so much they might quit. In BG2 this feature was removed though.

Anyway, yu may take any equipment you can move from other partymembers.

The leader of the party is fixed as the protagonist. But all the others' order is allowed to change (click on the portrait, and slide it to its new place).

To do screenshots the "Print Screen" button is the standard button, but you can check it at the help or controlls options.

In BG1 the protagonist does not have to be the party leader, I don't remember in BG2.

Of course the harpists will fight those bad guys, I never picked them (the latter). What can you expect if you put president Wilson and the Joker in the same group...?

Boring D&D is boring.
