I like the GameFAQs system in which you gain up to one karma a day for posting at least once each day. Every time you reach a certain amount of karma, you are upgraded to a new level with new board priveleges. New users get a set number of topics they can create and posts they can post, and later on can get meta-mod abilities (vote on whether a moderator is too strict or too lenient in his rulings) and mark for moderation (mark illegal posts for moderation).

a good reason to have it back is to see how people's counts increase. i.e. when they spam they go up quicker.. then titan can go a drop a couple of hundred and name them kottbulles.. :evil:

I change my mind, I say screw the post count, it doesn't really matter. The only thing it could possibly tell you is if the person is a newbie or not, but we could replace it with "Proud Member of Abandonia since XX/XX/XXXX" or something like that
