Well, I actually cast a null vote, since I couldn't really figure out what I thought. On reflection, I think it would probably be "yes, I do. a bit.". I wouldn't say I'm obsessed with it, and I actually don't mind at all that the post increment has been removed for the 3xblah forum, and I wouldn't mind if it was removed altogether.

However, the post count is nice when you're new to a board, since it can tell you something about the other users (in conjunction with their join date). It's not all that important, though, since you'll get a better impression of people by sticking around the board and reading their posts.

But I think it's strange that the post count increment has only been removed from the 3xblah forum. Does this mean that the admins care about post counts or do they just think most other users do? Will the result of this poll help determine if the post count increment is removed altogether?

Also I realise that reason for removing the post count increment in the 3xblah forum is to combat spam, but doesn't it just make spam spread to other subforums? I guess we'll find out.

why would it stop spam? now they can spam and noone will notice without checking very topic.

Well it may not stop spam, but it will decrese the number of those (yey it's my 500th post).

Most posts were made in the 3xBlah section, so that gave many people (me included) an much higher post count.
The 3xBlah is just an adition to a forum set up primarily to talk about old games (I like talking about other things - and obviously many other's do too). But at the begining there were some rules like whoever gets 100 posts will become a VIP and stuff like that. That would only be laughable at the moment, because we have people who make that many posts within few days!

And yes - many people post just so they could be posting and increasing their post count (it has happened many times already - just look through some old posts when people were competing who's the top poster for a day).
