Default SVGA and Vista

Ive ran into this problem playing XCOM apoc for windows, and the only option i could discover to fix it was to completely disable the video card.

I was hoping perhaps there was some genius here that new how to make games that only run in SVGA, work on these newer systems. What happens is that all sound works perfectly, but the graphics only go black and nothing will display.

When you disable all video card adapter drivers, and force the mother board to go to SVGA then you can play it and see things. But at the same time, it makes the system pretty unstable, and makes everything else look like crap.

Is there a way in vista to run one program in another graphics mode without screwing up everything else and forcing reboots to play in SVGA?

I do not want to be too blunt, but unfortunatly there is only one true answer.

Use DOSBox...

in pure system i'm afraid not. unless you make some kind of special drivers update for your gpu=S

but yeah.. dosbox is an emulator, that should work

No, we don't.
It's obvious that EOF and _r.u.s.s. meant to run it in dosbox, for the simple reason it will run much better that way.
No need whatsoever for VPC-W98 here.
Even the so called 'w95' version of that game can run in dosbox.

Yes, exactly. And even then, if you really want to pick up on us... Just find and use the DOS version. It's always way better that way. And I'm not talking only about Xcom: Apoc.
