Default Hey there!

Hey everyone! It's great to be here. This website looks like it's going to be loads of fun!

I've always been a fan of these old style games. I have quite a bit of experience with DOSBox and a good library of boxed games. Sadly my computer bit the dust about 6 years back and I had to get a more modern one, this one however, has no floppy drive, so installation has been impossible.
This website is looking like its going to be a solution and I'm feeling rather excited about getting going with these old games again!

I'm hoping to start playing (and eventually finishing) the games from my younger years. My favorites from that period were Legends of Valor (I noticed it has a rather low score here, lots of bugs but it was kinda fun), the kings quest series, megatraveler (a game I never beat, and probably never will!) and probably my favorite: Al-Qadim the genies curse.

I've heard a lot of great things about the Monkey Island games and the Quest for Glory series so I'm looking forward to spending some time with those games soon!

Well, I hope to make some friends here and re-live some of my nostalgia!

Welcome to the site. Never fear about not having a Floppy drive any more, you can still find external ones around to use if needed.

Quest for Glory is one of my favourite game series ever, the first one is my favourite game of all time. Feel free to ask questions about the games you haven't or are playing in there threads.

Hey there!²

And indeed, as DarthHelmet86 said, you always can use an external USB floppy drive, works fine mounted in dosbox. USB flopdrives are cheap.
If you have a lot of floppies laying around it's worth to get one and archive them as images. (Those work also fine in dosbox).

Haha splendid!

You know, it never occurred to me that there might be such things as external floppy drives. TO EBAY!

I did have a lot of small demos and the like on my dos based system, unfortunatly the drive is completely dead and has been thrown away since. Lots of things from magazines and the like that probably never made it as fully fledged games. I did spend a lot of time a few years back desperatly trying to copy them over and even enlisted the help of some professionals, but we didn't get anywhere. I'm going through the motions of rebuilding my collection from this website and I'm looking forward to spending some time with Quest For Glory soon. It looks really fun!

I can definitely reccommend the Quest for Glory series, one of my favourites ones

And welcome Most of the people here are relatively sane, unfortunately I'm not one of them
