I'll be coming in August, by plane (intend to rent a car on place).
Well, if you're landing in Slovenia this may be a slight problem, but seeing as both Rainwife and I are free in August we should deffinetly work something out. I never knew you had a child (how old is she?). Depending on her age the itinerary should probably change a bit (it should be less full and at somewhat different location) - you should probably leave out the Dolenjska castles then (the monasteries and castles really wouldn't be too suited for a little child. If she's over the age of 4/5 then there's no problem!

With a child you should deffinetly go to Celje and visit Herman's brlog (it's a children museum - very popular) and probably have a stay at Aqualand (it used to be a thermal spa, but is now a water-fun park). It would be one of the locations on the way from Brežice (Čatež) towards Slovenska Bistrica.

There's lots of other things I could recomend, if you tell me what interests you (and I've been showing Slovenia around to many people already and they've all been very impressed with the country, so I know what's worth seeing).

If you wan't I can PM you my phone number just in case anything goes wrong (after all the furthest location in Slovenia is only a five hour drive away from where I am), so if you run into any trouble... [/b][/quote]
My daughter is 5 so I don't think it would be a problem in walking around, especially that she got used to wandering around with us.
I absolutely love the idea of going to Slovenia after all that you have written here.
I am also looking forward to the possibility of meeting both of you, like a mini-abandonia-meeting :bleh:

What would be the problem with landing in Slovenia?

It would be great if you could show us around. Maybe if you plan to come to UK, we might give you a 'shelter' in our home and show what we think is interesting here...

Well there could be a problem with transportation. The public transport isn't really all that good, so if you're not travelling organized you might have problems getting from the airport to a city. From what I remember there's no rent-a-car at Brnik (the main airport) and if you're landing in Maribor, there's deffinetly not one.

So unless you know you have a shuttle organized to take you from the airport (not all airlines have that) you might find yourself being stuck at the airport!

Well sure, you won't be stuck on the airport for days... you'll be able to get someplace - but I suggest taking a taxi to either Kranj or Ljubljana (there you will finally reach civilization).

they really ought to build some fast monorail train at least to Kranj if not even to Ljubljana.

yah the airport really seem slike it's in the middle of nowhere

but no worries kajjj. plenty of transport options. just avoid the train (unless it's the museum train).
