![]() I started this topic becouse (IMO) the best way of learning somethig new about the programming is the book or e-book (preferably free).
So if anyone of you knows a good book about programming that you read or not, post! Also if anyone post a crapy book :not_ok: and I don't know of it so I put it in the list, tell me! Game programming Andre Lamothe - Tricks of the Windows game programming gurus

![]() Well, the best way to find a book that you like is to go to the bookstore and browse through theirs.
One that I found useful is Stephen Prata's C Primer Plus, another is C++ Primer Plus. It might also be a good idea to pick up a reference in addition, Schildt's books are good for that. |

![]() Try this link.
A lot of programming books have some free chapters for advertisement reasons. This website puts together some of those chapters, which in total gives you a full featured book. Very smart. By the way. The language is C#. |

But if you need to learn C++ from scratch, try to find another good book. Then later on you can return to your previous book. You should try Bruce Eckels free e-book. The link is on the beginning of this topic.

![]() I couldn't agree more - Eckel is a legend!
Something else I've found is: http://newdata.box.sk/bx/c/ which is nice for someone still learning - although I'd leave maybe 63 days at least! Edit: Oh, sorry - didn't ralise it was the Sam's Teach Yourself referenced earlier... Edit2: Also, a word of warning about "Savitch: Problem solving in C++" - it's utterly worthless. |
