Despite the game being great, I'm not really surprised it didn't do that well. FPS gamers are notoriously single-genre gamers and any hint of strategy elements or RPG elements added will put them off. Sad but true.

I just played the training and first two American missions, and first impression says it's AWESOME!

It IS awesome. It's one of the best games I ever played. That was back in the day when I was beta-testing a lot and, while I didn't get to officially beta BZ, I did (somehow) get a T-shirt. (Still have it.) I've not kept up but the last time I tried to install I had issues, so I'm glad to see this installer.

This baby was way ahead of its time. Definitely one of my favorites; and, I believe it was because of this game that I got my expansion pack for N64. Modern game developers could learn a thing or two from Battlezone.

Make sure you set bzone.exe to compatability for win98 or your missions don't seem to progress.

Another great mech styled game from Activision, the same game engine as Mechwarrior 2 - but so different. The strategy aspect is fantastic, organising the base and building stuff.

no way......
I still have this game on CD somewhere. It is truly one of the most epic games ever.

All developers need to do is use this EXACT game and up the graphics and bam! it'd be a best seller today

Oh happy days! I lost my BZ discs years ago! This game was the BEST online game ever.
I spent many late nights playing just one more map before going to bed

This game stands up even today, and the community has done some amazing mods to keep it current.

I think they did a remake for PSP. It wasn't very good.
