In case you havent following AB's twitter of Facebook page (See guys! They can be used for things like this, for example!) or havent logged into Steam for a while, shit just got real.

Around the beginning of the week Steam forums were hacked and taken down. Sad thing but not really that bad, since they're not connected to the actual Steam system, which is remained safe and untouched.

Or thats what we thought.

Our Steam forums were defaced on the evening of Sunday, November 6. We began investigating and found that the intrusion goes beyond the Steam forums.

We learned that intruders obtained access to a Steam database in addition to the forums. This database contained information including user names, hashed and salted passwords, game purchases, email addresses, billing addresses and encrypted credit card information. We do not have evidence that encrypted credit card numbers or personally identifying information were taken by the intruders, or that the protection on credit card numbers or passwords was cracked.”

So in other words, If you havent changed your password, I suggest you do so now. Hopefully you had Steam Guard on, since that should help stopping someone using your account. If you payed purchases with a credit card, follow your credit card activity and consider replacing that as well.
