Hey some of you just because he has a particular view and feels bitter about things, no need to flame him.
And whats wrong with a Satanic holiday? By the way, happy Christmas. |

I'm not christian, but I come from a protestant family. They celebrate Christmas, and I have always done so. But there's one thing that is worth noticing. Yule and Christmas is not the same thing. In my country, and in some others as well, "Christmas" really means "Yule". The Icelandic word for the celebration is Jol [I'm using a non-icelandic keyboard, the "o" is a bit different]. The word Yule is much much older than Christmas. It was/is the celebration of the day getting longer again. So yeah, I celebrate Jol, Yule, but not so much Christmas. Although the people I spend the season with do it. Bah hope this makes sense. So... For me: Yule = Yes, Christmas = No. And anyways, what's wrong with celebrating Christmas? Seriously, if everybody around you do so, why not join the fun? those are jolly and bright times, why not enjoy it? I know of both Muslims and Jews who celebrate christmas, just because everybody they know do so. I much rather look at it as time of joy, being nice and a welcomed vacation. |

And I'm not going to even answer the second question if you can't figure that out yourself. Merry Christmas! I will eat ham for you all.

This is a thread about a Christian holiday and I was expressing my views on Christianity and how it has positively affected me. Some negative things have been said in this thread against Christianity - which at this time I think is more objectionable than some postive words about happiness and love I've discovered. 'Mundane world' in this context means 'ordinary', 'every day' or 'normal world' as opposed to a supernatural or spiritual one.
Religious tolerance and respect for others should be the keywords here. |

Christmas may be rooted in Christianity but it has spread beyond that to become not just a religious observance but celebrated by people of many religions (which may or may not include Satanists). No-one in my family is a Christian but we still have a 10 foot tree in the hall and cards all over the house. Christmas is a great time of year, because of the cards, the presents and the parties (I went to my sixth form party last night, I got drunk and danced for a couple of hours, it was fun).
EDIT: Damn, I followed a trend and forgot: arty: Merry Crimbo everyone! arty: |

Christmas started out as Saturnalia (Well, to my knowledge, but maybe it was older than that) in Roman times. When people converted to Christianity, who wants to stop partying? I sure don't. So thye kept their holidays and gave them new meanings.
Whee for X-Mas |
