Well, IMHO, I think grouping threads like that isn't a bad idea. At least people would find their birthday topic easier.

No, no, no. There simply is no coke. Nobody bought some. And for the other two things: people want to do them, and russ allows it. Or he just doesn't care.

Anyway, now I at least see at a glance who is new, who is away, who has returned and who has birthday. Organisation comes with the needs: If there are many threads of a kind, you make a forum for them. And I don't understand why it is deemed as an attack on 3xBlah or restriction* of free chatter; those threads are no blah in the first place, and I just (tried to) make it easier to keep track of what happens, so you can talk better and more. The exposition of our forum to the millstones of pointless fascist bureaucracy is next month, not now.

*russ said "organising". I don't want to explain now why there has to be organisation, and why organisation is not evil per se, and that even to have this forum is organisation.

As long as I don't have to clean out russ's fridge...

He has set a wrong, er, sorry, - an unorthodox temperature. The contents are frozen and easily removable with a scraper.

Now, I wanted to add a fridge to his sig pic (where he stabs), but couldn't find an appropriate pixeled one.

In exchange,

Kinda pointless, and well sad. I am not going to go out of my way to look in a birthday forum to congrats a happy b-day. However if I see it in blah blah blah I'd see it and post!

Default introductions ... and a load of other stuff that we've put in boxes and in a cupboard

I was going to put this in staff, but even _that_ place seems messy now...

Wouldn't it be better to have "Introductions" as a stand alone forum, so people can see it and say, "Hello!"?

Maybe as a single, running thread from the main forum page.
That way, it is seen straight away and may lure people into posting at least once.

Does anyone expect everyone to trawl through an even *more* complex maze of forums (wtf is going on anyway? No offence, but the navigation was better before, for the non-task-management stuff) to find somewhere to say hello, I am me?

I certainly couldn't be fucked if I were a new person here.
That is why I feel comfortable farting and swearing, letting my belly hang out, in this forum.

Because it's so hidden, people won't even see me prancing naked and touching myself.

Introductions: up a level and higher on page = more easily seen, more easily accessed/greater accessibility + less intimidating.

+ No crappy looking "blah blah blah ... personal occasions" which looks shit on the forum display, being overly long and having a massive sub-heading, and - worse - as if the people who make Abandonia have tried their hardest to squash the majority of the community and social aspects of the forums into one place.

I can go on about this for longer, if you like?

Does anyone else agree?
Or does this look and feel good (better) to you?

[ed]
maybe I should change this, now it's moved..?

There's organisation, and there's needless and overly-complicated organisation for dummies.
Don't forget that we use this place very frequently... For the casual visitor - the person who will get games, donate, potentially sign-up and (even more rarely) help out - it looks pretty confusing.

The things that I want to get to straight away (if I'm being a dummie) are no longer accessible easily.

More organised for us, less organised for the thousands of other people who use this place.
