The answer to all your problems should be here.

What you need to do is stop trying to type commands the old-fashioned way. Make DosBox do all the hard work for you!

2. In the folder there's another file besides bubbleBooble called "snowbros".
The problem is that your directory is more than 8 characters long. Rename it so it only use 8 characters and then you'll be able to cd to it in DOS.

If you don't, when you use dir you'll probably notice it's something along bubbleb~ or something like that. If you type it exactly the way you see it you'll be able to acess it.

Your'd just need to type something like:

c:\>cd bubble~1 (First 6 characters then ~1 which represents that there are more characters actually present).

But yes, mouses link is much easier. k:

Hi guys,
I'm a total newbie. After reading the guide and doing and trying what is says for hours, i still can't run this game called "BubbleBobble"

here's the problem, i followed every single instructions but i seem to stuck at this problem.
1. I place the file inside a folder called c:\oldgames
2. In the folder there's another file besides bubbleBooble called "snowbros".
3. I used "DosBox" as followed the instruction by typing mount c c:/oldgames (it works)
4. Then i typed in C: (works)

here's the problem,

5. i type cd bubble, they will say "Unable to change to: bubble" so i tried booble, bubble,bb and everything but it still can't work.

6. BUT, if i typed in cd snowbros, it works and changed to c:\SNOWBROS (But Snowbros don't have an .exe file and really give me a hard time. It have some weird file name called ch0,ch1,ch2,ch3 and sn5, sn6 but without any .exe file)

Can anyone help me?
thanks you.
Actually, as you typed mount c c:/oldgames and then c:, you are already in the directory oldgames. No need for further cd-commands. Just start the game then.

So you've increased the speed within DosBox? (CTRL-F12)

I believe D-Fend aids in setting up profiles for DosBox, different profiles using different speeds etc for different games.

But on other hand, D-Fend also brings problems with some games.

Yes, you could try VDMSound instead of DOSBox if your computer can't run it decently. However, if your computer is too fast then you'll need to find a slowdown program. You can find a link for VDMSound on the utility section of this site.

yeah vdmsound is your second port of call, if a game isnt running fast enough in dosbox.

if thats no good, then there are other emulators for other computers/consoles/arcade that have bubble bobble and snowbros, that are probably less demanding than dosbox. although we cant help you with those here.
