Default Age of Wonders

Not sure if this completely constitutes as an oldy, since I think it came out in '96, but it's still an awesome game that I love playing. I can sit down at my computer and literally play this game for hours on hours capturing cities, slaying dragons, and VANQUISING THE INFIDELS! I don't know what I love most about this game, the excellent graphics, the superb gameplay, the stunning amount of choices available, or the absolutely amazing music. In fact, the music is so good that I tried making a terrible power metal version of one of the songs.

Anyway, I'm currently exploring all of the races. With 12 races, there are so many great ones to choose from. I used to play good almost exclusively, but I started using goblins recently and I really like evil units, as ashamed as I am to admit that. I don't know any other word besides love to explain what I think of this game; the involved strategies, the diplomacy, the combat, the music, all just so brilliant.

I'd really like to start playing online with people, but I don't know anyone else with it. It's such an awesome game, I think more people definitely need to check it out. Anyway, what do you all think of this game?

Yes because some of the races in MoM are found in Age of Wonders. Also if i'm correct, the concept of magical nodes is also found in AoW

Age of Wonders was a good game, not sure if it's abandonware though.

'99? Whoa! I thought it came out in 1996. Even still, it wouldn't be abandonware. Nevertheless, it's a great game.

Yeah.. AoW was good, but in my opinion, The Heroes of might and magic series are way better.

My fav. AoW teams were the Azracs, the icelings... and i think the team with the spiders.

Yeh, i just got into playing AOW after i squeezed everything out of the homm series... Aow2 is a mad game but i feel it goes too slow compared to homm..... I've never playeed the 1st one...is it better in any sense..or just because its a 'classic'

I also like the Heroes Of Might & Magic series way more than Age Of Wonders, although I didn't give AoW much of a chance as I only played the 2nd installment for a short time. AoW is too turn-based for me I guess, as battles can take ages!
