I did manage to copy the window with the results of the DIR command. You would think that I could at least upload a screenshot, but NO-OOO! When I click on "Insert image" all I get is a pop-up asking for a web address. I am really not this dumb! I got it uploaded through the "mamage attachments" link, but I can't do anything with it from there. It's not just going to show up in this message now, is it? I guess I'll send this message and see what happens...
You don't need to use the [IMG] tags for images in attachments. Just attach the thing and post the message it is attached to.

You screwed up.
Best is to start again from scratch.
Whilst in windows delete c:\games\savage\ folder and start over from scratch.
Give the installer enough time to finish (it wil decompress a lot of files).

If you do it all right the installer leaves you in c:\savage\.(dosbox)
[edit]
BTW, when doing a screenshot in dosbox hit CTRL+F5, this will save the screenie in dosbox's homefolder folder 'capture'.(Usually c:\program files\dosbox-072\capture\ *.png).

Yup, I screwed up.

I ran the same commands again
(mount a c:\Games\UltimaSE -t floppy
mount c c:\Games\
a:
install)
and got the same results. It took me through the set-up options, did a real quick file copy, and left me back in the Explore window where I started from to access DOSBox in the Games\UltimaSE folder.

Replace "mount c c:\Games\"

With "mount c c:\Games\ -freesize 600"

And Try again....

(.... Might work..... Maybe..... Hoping....)

Me thinks this is where it goes wrong.
Delete and unzip the archive again in c:\games\ultimase\.
Start from a fresh uncompressed archive, not one that already gone through the install with wrong params.

Start completely over from scratch. A new begin so to speak .....

Added screenie made with dir /w, this is what it should look like.

Indeed, just tested and once you've gone through the install procedure it won't work again from the instaleed folder, so delete your old c:\games\ultimase\ and uncompress the archive again, then it will work.

Default Savage Empire music

The lights dim, the orchestra warms up, the choir bursts into song: "Hallelujah! Hallelujah!"

It works! I did have to delete the old folder and start from scratch. Thank you so very much, you are the best! Anything I can do you for, let me know.

Strange that it was so much trouble to get up and running. When I made the archive, I just packed up the installed version of the game that I've been copying between my systems for years (the actual factory-compressed install files are still locked up on the 5-1/4" disks the game came on). Running it in DosBox should have been as simple as uncompressing the archive to <your games>/savage/, and running the install/setup program to adjust the hardware settings, and booting her up.

At least it's running, though. Enjoy.
