I was just looking at the California Game's Extras and I noticed the registeration card.
These things usually can be found under the manual. If you fill out these cards and sent them, you can get catalogs and extras from the company! Has anyone actually filled and sented any of these? If you have, what did you got? I havent. Partly because I think its stupid and partly because the registeration cards were over 14 years old. |

I miss the option 'sometimes'. When the game is good and I actually want to be informed about new version and such, I'll fill it in, otherwise I don't. For lack of a better option I chose 'Yes'!

Never. Everytime any kind of companies ask you to fill in your adress and information, they use the info for some research data, marketing data... And then sell those adress list to other companies who then sent you spam letters in your mailbox.
No thanks. I'd prefer to pay my games more or not to receive those so called "extras" which should already have been packaged with the game if they were really "free"... :not_ok: |

I also agree with both above statements.
But some games really had anoying registration forms. I reember some early Win95 games, where you couldn't complete the installation unless you printed out the registry form (and said you've sent it - even if you didn't). Always hated the waste of paper and ink on printing those out. You had the option of regestring online instead, but then I knew the registration would acctually happen, so printing it out was the only way around it. Eventually I decided to throw such CD's away (the games usually weren't really good either). |

Most of the old companies don't really exist anymore anyway
And I'll be damned if I send Vivendi my details

Never. I just never bother, and beside, there aren't many forms to fill in on these downloads anyway

Ooh I get to get ads from them if I bother to register? Sure, ads are cool!
I mean no, never. I don't really think they'll be selling my information and so, but anything useful (patches) doesn't need you to be registered in order to get it if necessary.

Nope never, like it has been mentioned before, just an opportunity for the companies to plug their games more via email and for much more ad-like gaming spam.
