Well I don't think you actually need a manual (except for those wires). But even there you can get by with the codes (they are in the extras). If you have the bad luck and the game asks you for a code that's not in there, well...

The best way would be to save the game before you go and connect the wires. So if it asks you a code you don't have, you can always restart (and hope it asks you a code you know).

Hmm.. I'm trying to run the game in DOSBox but I can't get it running. It just does nothing when I run the ring.exe. Same thing with install.exe. In the "other" DOSBox window it gives me the following error

Illegal opcode

And that comes up 13 times. When I run the install in XP it works fine but after I have installed it it just whines about mountings in DOSBox(prolly trying to use a drive that isn't mounted). Anyone have any ideas?

You don't need to install it. Just extract the zip file and that's it!

Been there done that. I know I dont't have to install it but as I explained after I unzip the game and run RING.EXE in DOSBox nothing happens. Exept for the error message I mentioned before.

After that I tried if it would work after installing(like Blue Force did) but that didn't help either.

This looks like a complete list. Mind you, I've never read any of them, so obviously I wouldn't know whether any titles are missing. But at any rate it looks like there are more than two.

There are 4 ringworld books.
  • Ringworld
  • Ringworld Engineers
  • Ringworld Throne
  • Ringworld's Children
in that order

I have read them all and they are all good. Ringworld is part of Larry Niven's KNown Space. It is good stuff and you can find lots of his stuff on P2P networks, just search for "niven"
