''8 world leaders, gathered in Scotland for the G8 summit, will be presented with a workable plan to double aid, drop the debt and make the trade laws fair. If these 8 men agree, then we will become the generation that made poverty history.

10 concerts, 100 artists, a million spectators, 2 billion viewers, and 1 message... To get those 8 men, in that 1 room, to stop 30,000 children dying every single day of extreme poverty.''

So how do you feel about witnessing the largest concert ever?

Well, if you don't know what Live 8 is you've been living under a rock.

Seriously now, as said in quote from my first post, it's the largest concert ever held, in 10 cities all over the world, to help exterminate the world's poverty. Ever heard of Live Aid organized by Bob Geldof? Well, this can be called a sequel to it.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see your edit.

Well, Live Aid helped, so I reckon this will too.

If they really would forget the debts,
Double the aid (and make sure its put where needed)
change the trade laws(which i know nothing about)
and teach the people to be independent so they don't need our help

then things would change.

Really? would they?
I say if the G8 does decide to do all those things it will simply send a message of "the ball is in your court" to the governments of these impoverished countries. Many of these countries are usually entangled in a pointless war, or a civil war. Cancelling debts will not stop the use of child soldiers, in the worst case scenario it'll only make it easier for the government to purchase better weapons for these child soldiers... heartwarming.
And all these aid efforts to renew agriculture will be executed by the UN (if at all) because those corrupt governments usually don't live the finger, they just wait for the money to roll in. Any resistance to these governments (usually by guerillaleaders who only have their own best interests in mind and who are prone to use child soldiers) are dealt with using an iron first, causing more death and destruction, resulting in the situation not improving one bit. And all the Bob Geldof's in the world won't be able to stop that.

well like i said the money has to go to the right places...

like i also said:
i dont have a damn clue... about western politics, the world economy or the political situation in africa for that matter.

what i do know is that if we just sit and watch and only think about diamonds, gold and bananas when we think about africa then nothing will change for sure.

--------------
EDIT

and mabye we need a couple more george bushes (no i voted for gore.. well no i didnt but i would have if i had been older... and actually despise bush) that will go in there and just wipe out all the idiots that rule the countries in africa... yeah people will die... but they will suffer longer if we do NOTHING
