Macintosh shareware simple RPG
I was playing this oh, well... around '97 on early power Macs, game however was so simple (one-person-made probably) it would probably work on some Quadra (MacOS 7.x or 8.x, 65536 colors, but I doubt that this game used more than 256, or even 16)
Game was rpg-style with name *probably* containing word "Highwood" (no, it's *not* famous Moonstone), very simple gfx - english language - top-down view, i.e. whole area could have been seen within part of screen, with one city covering ca 25% of the map (lots of green in this map - on the right was situation log, where your char stats were displayed, and combat resolved (text based sit rep, turn-based) - main (and only) char is a knight/warrior (simple icon looked just little better than "@", but it wasn't roguelike) - there are couple (five or so) lairs with opponents, to rise your exp - some generic items like health potions or perhaps mana, armours & weapons available in shop within town. - no sound, or just beeps Can't find it anywhere, someone has played this as well? Could be one of the Ultima titles:

Thanks for reply Unfortunately, it's not mentioned above. Ultima/Exile series are well-known titles and have vast exploration area - while in this one, after clearance from monsters of first area (visible within window), you were moved to another one, with another castle and more difficult monsters. Also gfx were tiny but quite nice. I'm afraid it's very obscure shareware.
However, macintosh garden is very resourceful place, and I did find there many interesting titles It convinced me to look for good emulation software. |

Sounds like one of the Yipe! games (I, II or III).
http://www.yipesoftware.com/index.htm http://www.yipesoftware.com/yipeii.htm http://www.yipesoftware.com/yipeiii_screens.html Doesn't seem to be any screens of the first game...I guess I should add them to Mobygames. So lazy.... |
