hi lapotp hard drive spins gets through bios fine and when i go to install anything it says the hdd dont exist, i need help bad and i dont usally go on this website so could any e-mails please go 2 someemail@hotmail.com

So you want us to help you by emailing you? Wouldn't you be better off by finding some hardware forum that can help you on this matter? And why am I even replying to this since you apparently won't see it since you only used a guest login... waste of time

Okay I do not know why I am doing this but Have you tried to reinstall the harddrive in the bios.

Check the BIOS settings. Is the HDD autodetected or not.

I had a similar problem trying to install a laptop HDD into a stationary machine - the HDD started up then shut down.

If non partition on HD is set to be primary, HD will fail to load. Use fdisk from DOS (hit F3 multiple times when starting Win98 CD do get to DOS) to check your partitions and to adjust if needed.

ps. Still buy a dell!
