I was installing dosbox via the tutorial included on this site, and after I altered .conf to work with C drive and not Z, dos still opens with Z, not C, and I have no idea why, any help would be appreciated.

it doesn't really matter what it starts with.
After you mount a drive, type "C:" without the quotes to change from Z to C.

I have the same problem. After following the set up instructions I still get a Z:\ prompt instead of a C:\ prompt when I open DOSBox-0.63 from the programme start group. I don't know why this is and will not allow me to continue the tutorial to set up the other folders in the correct file place. Anybody any ideas where I have gone wrong please?
Any suggestions to correct this please?

thanks

Mike

Have you tried doing what Nikson suggested? Start DOSBox and type C:. If the command line changes to C:\, you're fine.

Thanks for your suggestion but if I type "C" at the "Z:\>" and hit enter I get "illegal command: C."

Mount the C: drive?

Either look here or read the readme which come with DOSBox.

Hi again,
ive got the Z:\ to change to a C:\ by changing the following line:-

mount C C:\CDrive

to

mount C C:\DOSBox\CDrive

because CDrive isn't directly in the C drive, its in the DOSBox file, in the C drive.
Hope it helps anyone else
