Stroggy, their goverment made record of 4 wars (if we count thing that happend in SLO war) in less then 7-8 years. Add to that sanctions, NATO bombing and you'll get picture. But there is an old frase in my country: 'they got what they were looking for' |

You must understand a few things about buying the 'original' stuff: - people spent their MONEY for more importaint things - things you need to live! - there are some distribution problems; - Piracy and the black market were treated (and still are) very differently from what you're used to; - and: It's not illegal if you're not cought - attitude!!! That was the way people were thinking and used of doing things (and somehow it actually worked) for decades. BTW what do you think abandonia downloadable's were at first? Do you think they were cracked by their owners just to say - hey, we won't sell this game any more, so we'll crack it for you, so you don't need the manual either?!?! They were illegal at the time the game was still sold, that's why they're cracked, but now, that the game is abandonware, it really doesn't matter anymore!!! |

And how that relates to LOTR CD?
Most people from the balkan likes idea of cheap (on the street, black market) software, movies, videos. That is one of the reason most of computer software never got translated in our language, because nobody did not pay retail price for it. |

Hey, If I found a store actually selling the old games I'd want, I'd buy them.
I recently bought Red Alert and serveral other old games while I could have just waited for them to be uploaded to the site. I believe a cd is, according to economy, in the Secundary Needs sections: cultural necessities. That means a TV, a cdplayer (+cd, ofcoarse) Primary needs are: house, food and clothing. If any of you are from Zimbabwe or the Darfur region I'll offer my humble apologies. But if you have enough money to sit at your computer (secundary/tertiary need. tertiary needs are luxury items, computer is somewhere between both of them. Differs from country to country) and download illegal music or abandonware or the last Bush-mocking flash movie on a modem... then I assume you're not some hobbo who sits in the street with a cardboard plaque in front of him saying "cat got tongue, need money. Have mercy" I just asked somebody on msn who is from Serbia. He claims that, while a lot of cds are not available for the average consumer, recent big-titles (be they movie soundtracks or the latest album of some large-chested heroin-shooting popqueen) are available.... which is more than you can say about abandonware

Strogy,
it is diferent to get used software and to get blackmarket's pirate software. We are talking about new stuff, like $5.00 for windows, office xp, macromedia (all tools), etc. Not to mention about new games, movies, cds.... |
