I prefer the old Command and Conquer which had more emphasis on resource gathering. In C&C it wasn't that easy to just build a new base since a new construction yard was REALLY expensive. Not to mention buildning the defense for the new base. Gathering Tiberium became more of a escort mission. In the *Craft games I've found that resource gathering hasn't been that hard. Then again I doubt I've seen all the scenarios.
That's exactly why C&C wasn't that awesome and mind bending.
Oh, Starcraft doesn't really have rushing anymore due to patches, but with C&C it was always Tank Rush.

First person to tank Rush wins!

I always fancy myself a good RPG over anything.

Actually, at the time it was awesome and mindbending.

Too all RPG lovers out there. Try out the old time RPGs like ADOM, ToME, Nethack and Zangband. I've spent hours recently and they're REALLY good. Now I know where Diablo got it's concept from. Diablo is Nethack, but with graphics and a lot less realism.

For me, it is mostly RPG that rules, though Strategy is a VERY close second. I love almost all games from both genres.

At the bottom of my list is sports. I'd rather go play them myself then play a sports game. The exception there is a game called Crush Deluxe, though that is a strategy game really.

That's what I liked about C&C. It was possible to turn the tide of battle by doing sabotage missions. One had to make sure the base was inpenetrable and that no one got to one's harvesters. That was exciting and fun. Strategy.

I think it would be a tie between Adventure & RPG. k:

Ever since I saw (and played) the first versions of Larry, SQ, KQ, Monkey Island, Mean Streets & Martian Memorandum etc. - I've been hooked.

Eye of the beholder, Lands of Lore, Might & Magic, Heroes of Might & magic...etc...

...not that there is anything wrong with Wolfenstein3D or Lost Vikings or Syndicate or Gobliins...etc...

I voted for Adventures, but it could be RPG as well.
