My vote for Planescape aswell, as I haven't played Fallout 1/2 yet.

Btw, back in my days, games like Diablo etc. were called Isometric Action Adventures, but I guess times change... :bleh:

Something tells me you haven't played Final Fantasy 6*
On the contrary, I've played through FF6 dozens of times. It is a great game, but FF7 truly started all these new 3d RPG's and was absolutly brilliant at the time it came out. That is why I think its the best RPG ever. The Star Ocean series are excellent as well. Item Creation is wicked cool...

i prefer FF 4/5/6 over 7/8/9 due to the fact that the move to 3d kinda ruined it for me.
but fallout beats any FF game hands down (excellent TB combat and far more truly freeform than any console rpg at the time)

I remember Melfice, but I don't remember fighting him, but since I finished the game I'm assuming I beat him. And since you didn't finish I have to tell you that Marag dies at the end , very sad moment indeed, but like you'd expect he died a hero. And yes the Tensakin Slash is the nicect looking move through out the whole game.

Hmm? No Ultima games on the list? Or the Eye of the Beholder series? Not to mention the AD&D classics? Krondor? Exactly how long did you spend choosing the options?

Anyway, my favourite computer RPG would be either Ultima 5, Betrayal at Krondor, or Rogue (although that one would be stretching the genre a little).
