i've used the bootdisk before without any problems on a pc with an ISA SB16 PnP but now i'm trying to use it on a pc with an onboard SB128PCI.
i've tried with both the SB drivers for download on this site, and the ensoniq drivers (the soundblaster.com knowledge base mentioned APINIT.COM, the ensoniq drivers are the only dos SB drivers i could find that came with the right files). i had limited success with modifying the autoexec.bat to use the ensoniq stuff, i managed to get everything loaded and the soundcard recognised, but the pc would lock up in a certain app (FastTracker 2) and i wouldn't be able to set sound up in games. then i saw the drivers download and thought i'd re-try using the original bootdisk again (they were the same files i had tried before using the ensoniq ones), but just like before i'm getting error: PCI device detect failed; Device not found can anyone shed any light on why i might be getting this error? (it's not the same one i was getting when i had the ensoniq ones setup wrong) thanks, -Boyd |
