I couldn't get this game to work with my dosbox. I could get to the menu in the prostore, but when ever I try to start a round, I recieve a message that says that the gamefile could not be found. All of the files that are in the download are located in the directory "C:\dosgames\PGA\" on my computer.

Have no idea where it even can go wrong with that game, whatever I try it runs .... drag/drop, mounting a virtual C and do a "cd pga" ... it runs.
Do a dir/w in dosbox whilst you're in your PGA dir. Should look like this: <- click

Thanks for your help!
I only have 22 files in my dir, It appears that I am missing P00002.plr and P00003.plr. And, upon redownload, so is the zip file... Maybe those are what I'm missing? |

After a new check: No, in the zip file are 22 files, that's ok.
Those extra P00002.plr and P00003.plr are apparently created by the game's engine upon running the game. I don't know where your problems come from, could be a write restriction, seems the game creates some extra files, so I'll need a lot more details from you: OS? Dosbox version? Mount lines? Did you alter something in dosboxconfig?

I vaguely remember this game for the Master System. (Or was it the Game Gear?) Were there any significant changes in the PC version?

Did anyone ever fix the sound problem? I still can't get anything except PC Speaker beeps and bloops out of this game, although the music works just fine, and sounds like MIDI Piano (which it of course is).
The thing that irks me about it is that the Abandonia review mentions a couple of times how great the sounds are, but doesn't provide any information on how to actually achieve the working sound. So if someone has working sound effects for this game, I'd like to see their DOSBox config file, and to know whether they are using the Abandonia version of this game or some other version. It would definitely be even more irritating, if the reviewer used some other version, and the Abandonia version would turn out to not even having anything better than the PC Speaker sound. Perhaps this game came with an installer that let you specify the sound card or something? Or does it try to detect it by itself (and fails for some reason, what?)? I'd appreciate any answers. You can answer here in the forum or in a private message. |
